South African Delight

It's been a week and a half since we left South Africa yet my memory is still alive with its colours, tastes and sights. Despite it being Winter whilst we were there, we were lucky to enjoy a fair share of bright blue skies and crisp sunshine-y air. The pace of our days were relaxed and reflective, bookmarked by exquisite South African cuisine: natural, fresh and delicious. 

Being a nature lover, there was hardly a day not spent outdoors. First in the bush on a five-night safari and then as we journeyed from Cape Elizabeth towards Cape Town, covering about 700km by car, stopping first at The Crags, Plettenberg Bay then the vineyards in Wellington and Franschhoek and finally Cape Town; make the most of our seven-day road trip down the scenic Garden Route. We filled the time with hikes, long walks on deserted beaches, river SUP in a national park canyon, trail walks and watching sunsets; eagerly watching the sky dim to midnight and the stars twinkle up high. 

As they say, "To travel is to live". If that be the case, we lived really well.
